I am not necessarily advocating for a federally run health care system. I understand the sincere objections many in the U.S. have for anything that smacks of what they consider to be socialism.
However, as unemployment rises to levels perhaps unseen since the Depression, what will happen to those who lose their employer-provided health insurance when COVID-19 may drive them to seek care? Additionally, what happens to those who have inadequate or no insurance when the virus strikes?
Will we end up with a de facto federally supported health care system anyway?
