Though owls are legendary in books, movies and mythology, getting a live and up-close look at these nocturnal creatures can be a challenge.

But those who participate in the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge’s annual Owl Day event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will get a chance to see owls up close and personal and learn about their natural history.

The Ogden Nature Center and its experts will have a live owl with them from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the James V. Hansen Wildlife Education Center, W. Forest St., Brigham City.

Other parts of the free event include dissecting owl pellets, making owl finger puppets, constructing owl masks, face painting, owl story time and movies about owls.
